May 23, 2022: NIH Pragmatic Trials Collaboratory Announces Virtual Workshop on Critical Questions for Pragmatic Clinical Trialists

The NIH Pragmatic Trials Collaboratory will hold a virtual workshop over 2 half-days on June 15-16, 2022, to explore questions critical to designing and implementing pragmatic clinical trials (PCTs) conducted within health care systems.

The NIH Pragmatic Trials Collaboratory has now been supporting pragmatic trials for a decade, including a set of trials in the PRISM (Pragmatic and Implementation Studies for the Management of Pain to Reduce Opioid Prescribing) program of the Helping to End Addiction Long-term® Initiative, or NIH HEAL Initiative®. This workshop, Critical Questions for Pragmatic Clinical Trialists: Insights From the NIH Pragmatic Trials Collaboratory’s First Decade, is an opportunity to glean the most salient lessons learned from an experienced group of the PCT investigators who will openly share the challenges they have encountered, solutions they have developed, and thoughts for the future.

The workshop will take place from 1:00-5:00 p.m. ET each day, kicking off with a keynote presentation by Shannon N. Zenk, PhD, MPH, RN, FAAN, Director, National Institute of Nursing Research, National Institutes of Health, DHHS. All sessions are free and open to the public.

Register today

The workshop will include 4 moderated webinar discussions with panels of experts that will focus on changes and current best practices regarding the use of electronic health records for pragmatic research, considerations for PCT study design, how to optimize a 1-year planning phase for a PCT, and tips for implementing interventions in complex health systems. Perspectives and experiences shared by the NIH Pragmatic Trials Collaboratory investigators may be used to bolster the success of future PCTs.

We hope you will join us for this exciting opportunity to hear insights from a broad spectrum of PCTs. Download the workshop flyer or see the full schedule below.
